Use a beautiful photo that purposefully overexposes the primary grind so the grinding flaws such as waves and divots are obscured. Be ready to accept any returns cheerfully. Profit!

After handling many BRKT knives I'm convinced there's no money to be made selling them online with an honest photo. Just make sure to capture the beauty of the handle material in the pic and you'll do well.

My bravo is flawless, holds a great edge and grinds are perfect. I won't hesitate to buy more brkt in the future.

Yes, I've no doubt plenty of good ones do leave the shop.

Funny thing about the sellers I have in mind - their pics of Arno Bernard beautiful hollow grinds are properly exposed and do show the grind in detail. Odd that, right?

Just sell them to the hard core Barkites. If it says Bark River, they will buy it regardless of your photos.

Is there a point to this thread? Is this just a snide attempt to hate on BRKT? I assure you the lines are drawn in this battle, and this thread will have no bearing on anyone's opinion. The haters will hate and the fan boys will fan? I myself don't have a side, just two nice BRKTs with none of the problems you alluded to.

You must not have seen any of these issues with the North Star you tried to buy on 6/16/14. Good eye.

Anywho, this surely doesn't belong in General as it will likely end up locked. I say whine and cheese.

My problem isn't with BRKT. They are what they are. The quality of the grind is part of the value equation and there is a demonstrated market for them. My problem is with the online retailers who use differential photo standards from one brand to the next to mask the flaws of a given brand.

So this should go in GBU as it is feedback, all be it feedback of very limited use as you gave no examples or evidence.

Let me see if I can help you understand my point. Mine is not dealer specific feedback. This is not a thread bashing a specific dealer, but an accurate observation of dealers using purposefully misleading photo standards.

And the North Star listed here that you reference above had very nice grinds as shown clearly in the seller's photos. That's why I wished to buy that knife.

So there is still no specific point to this thread. Just a general back handed warning about non specific BRKT dealers who may or may not take poor pictures? Very informative. This should be in GBU and to make such claims (whether they are true or not is irrelevant to me) you should be specific and give examples. Instead, you are generally accusing unspecified dealers of things for which you gave no evidence of. In other words, pointless.....

So what you are saying is that there is a picture of a knife somewhere and it is not as it seems.......

Thanks for the heads up!

Not a troll thread, and doesn't belong here as I didn't refer to a specific transaction with any one dealer.

The point I made in the OP *should* have been a subject for polite discussion of the topic.

My assertion does have merit though. Too bad some fanboys came along and derailed this thread.

Troll thread, moved to FEEDBACK.

I am no fan boy of any company. What I am a fan of is assertions backed up with evidence so a discussion can be had. You have made pointless accusations. Pointless because you accuse no one, nor do you provide any evidence. This is basic writing 101 stuff. Make a statement, back it up with evidence. Your assertions have no merit because you don't say who you are talking about nor have you given us any evidence. There is nothing to talk about here.

And a "discussion" about dealers does belong in GBU, thus why this pointless thread has been moved here.

The problem is that each knife goes through some of the "hand ground" processing, rather than straight CNC. There is bound to be some variation in each piece. The same happens to any company that uses a "satin" style finish. There really is no easy way around it. People take photographs of a knife and it serves as a representative sample of the batch.

Assuming that each knife from BRKT or any company has perfectly homogenous barstock with no human errors created by final processing or from the alloying process is unrealistic. This holds especially true of knives that are mostly designed and sold at a price point that excludes custom collectors. Here is my recent experience. I spent $155 on a BRKT Necker 2. It was the perfect size and came in 3V steel. It included a nice kydex sheath so it was a no brainer since it was what I wanted. I get the knife pull it from the sheath and I notice that the kydex sheath has scratched the crap out of the finish on 2/3rds of one side. Plus the sheath looks like it is super rough and not finished appropriately. I had to clean up the blade because I bought a new knife, not a new knife with some scratches at no extra charge. The picture had no scratches of the knife I bought. C'est la vie...

As far as fanboys are concerned, they are all over the place. Every brand has them, even the complete garbage knives made in China that sell on eBay for $5.99. I just saw a video of some guy gushing all over the worst piece of ish "Batman Knife" and another wetting his Underoos over a cloned version of a Dalton Cupid. It is what it is, welcome to forums of any kind that deal with a specific product or topic. Ever seen a Carl's Jr commercial and looked at their food (or any other place), when you go to eat your food does not look like what they show in the ads, does it? Mine sure doesn't.
