I have a Benchmade Emerson CQC7 from the 90s, and I would really like to get it back to shaving sharp. I have a Gatco kit, but I really don't know how to use it on this kind of a blade. Can someone point me in the right direction?

the way i sharpen chisels and chisel ground knives is to first sharpen the bevel until i raise a burr, then lay the flat side of the blade down on a stone and lightly polish the back to remove the burr.

then i strop both sides.

i sharpen chisel grinded blades free-handed and with the particular model, I think freehand sharpening is better. I just keep the cutting edge on the sharpener and follow it with my eye

Yesterday I got my BM 630 back from Richard. It shaves on both edges. This guy knows what he's talking about. Send him your knife, you won't be sorry.
