A combination 250/1000 waterstone would prepare your knives to be finished with your Arkansas stone. For most people the 1000 grit would work OK as a final finish. http://www.highlandwoodworking.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1510

Most of them. I bought ruby in 150 and 320 grit. Three out of four fit well. i had to remove some material on one.
flex 150 and 320 all fit. moldmaker 240 grit. fit very tight, so I had to remove some material on coarse benchstone with a lot of water.
out of all of them I prefer ruby. I bought 1/2 Tri. x 6
I'd use a strop charged with green or Flexcut Gold compound after the sand paper.
I go to walmart's automotive section
By some wet-dry sandpaper (800 or 1000grit and then the finest, usually 2000)
Get everything going with the course paper. WITH the paper on a hard flat surface. We have a marble-top table so that part's easy for me. Then use the 2000. (Pretty standard operation) But after I've done all the real work with the paper on marble I'll put it on a notebook/bible/telephone book. I find the mousepads TOO soft and round things off too much for my tastes.
