Without a mill, how would some of you VERY crafty gentleman put about an 1/8 slot in 3/4 thick piece of micarta?

I have access to a KMG, a drill press, and hand tools. If I had a mill this would be cake, but I need to be perfectly centered an about an inch deep.

Really appreciate any help.

Drill a series of holes so that they overlap, and try to even out the slot the best you can with hand tools

This is easy.... no need to drill a million holes...

Drill 2 holes, where you want it to start, and where you want it to end.
Draw 2 lines, one at the top of the hole, one at the bottom
Fire up a jig saw and cut along the lines...

When making your cuts, make sure you stay on the INSIDE, then use a file or what ever to clean it up...

EDIT:
This will work as long as you have some kind of saw blade that will fit inside your drilled holes

EDIT 2: you say you want it perfectly centered... measure 10x cut once =)

1/8" slot I get, but 3/4" material and 1" deep confuses me a bit. Are you drilling through or plunging? Also, are you looking at round ends or square?

ERIK- Ill show you when I get it done will make perfect sense.

Thanks for the help so far. I need to get one of those vices for my drill press that allows me to drill two holes in the same line. They are always off even if I measure 100x haha.
