How to sort through what to keep…and what to let go…

I don't like selling any of my knives. Some I never use because they are high dollor ($1000-$2000) and I am afraid to drop them once and *poof* theiur value will be gone. But I admire them the most. Then I have my mid range production knives. These I tend to sell the most. Especially a certain line that I get tired of like Benchmade and Emerson. I have some knives that have sentimental value and other knives that belong in a set or color group. And I can't split them up.

Most of all I regret selling certain knives in the past and wish I had them today. Like the early Sebenzas I used to have like the regulars , P sebenzas and Umfanns .

The one I tend to sell the most are ZT, Hinderers, Striders and some spydercos. I am always looking for that new perfect knife to "hit that spot". Lately it has been auto knives, cheap well made chineses knives (the most amazing of all to me) and a few Traditional folders like the #25 pattern.

Guess I sell a few and buy more. I always end up making my money back on them and that is what makes this hobby so much fun. It is like money in the bank as these knives can be turned into doe at any time.

here is a few cheaper ones ZI had in the 90's that I have sold:

I don't like getting rid of knives, unless I am making a gift of one. Fortunately I've been around long enough that I know what I do or don't like. I am no longer interested in getting every knife that may catch my eye, so I am much more particular with my purchases. As a result I don't often agonize with having to cull the herd.

I have 10 fixed blades,, 3 used for edc, 6 used for specific applications, and 1 as a collectible. Also 9 folders,, 6 that get used a lot and 3 that I see as "collectibles" that I just enjoy. I have 2 more fixed blades to add to the "specific application" category. I spend a lot of time (sometimes months) researching all my options before making a decision on a knife "is this really going to be better than the... that already fills this role". I have yet to buy a knife that Iv not loved. I do however find myself replacing "specific application" knives and EDC folders on occasion. When I do retire a blade I give them away to friends :D About to give away a new 943 and an abused 5400 :D
