How to store knives.

Pelican cases are indeed quality products. They're also easy to carry off so not only you lose all your knives, but a very expensive case as well. ;)

That's one thing that worries me if I decided to go that way and buy the Pelican case.

If you want to really secure the case, you can buy a galvanized steel cable with two loops on the ends (masterlock makes some) and run it through the locks and/or handle of the case and wrap the cable around a solid object- pillars in a basement, frame of your bed, etc. Sure, its not quite as secure as a massive 600 lb gun safe but it will probably be enough to dissuade your ordinary burglar. Also, the cases are small and can easily be concealed.

Thanks for everything :) If I decide to go this route then I'll definetly get the cable.

I looked it up and It's a really nice looking chest. The price is a little to high though. Thanks for the suggestion.

If you think that price is high, look at the Original Gerstner Tool Chests, Craftsman tool boxes, and other. Msat storage solutions are well ovr $100-200.

Indeed. I looked at all of those. Just couldn't justify it. Even used ones bring astronomical prices. The Harbor Freight box was simply inexpensive and respectable looking.

I was one of the guys with knives in every which drawer, I just got a Gerstner, yeah they are pricey but an awesome product (and 100% made in USA), a couple months back they had a sale and so I treated myself. The plastic drawers will do the job just as well but the Gerstner chest is like a nice piece of furniture, not just a storage system for the closet. Though a big plus with the plastic drawers is how they are modular so they can expand with your collection. At first I felt like OMG I could never fill all these drawers, now that I've moved stuff together from all over the place I am thinking jeez what do I do when I fill this thing? It's an infectious hobby.

My EDC rests on a bench mat at my desk. Usually my phone and keys are here also.

My knives and lights are stored in a bookcase. I guess it looks kind of messy but it is easy to get to the items I need.

I'm looking for some machinists chests or something, because it will keep my gear free from dust. Keeping my stuff clean is a nightmare!

I'd imagine it being a nightmare. You have a nice collection though.

That's pretty much exactly what I did, laying my knives like that on the shelf opened up. Then one night there was an earthquake and my first thought was, "MY KNIVES!!!" Now that they're all sitting safely in a gun case if there's an earthquake I'm grabbing my babies and we're boning the heck out of the house!

I received a large SpyderPac from my wife for Valentines day. Keep all of my folders in that and store the boxes in a some plastic storage bins. I keep my fixed-blades in the top shelf of my gun safe. Right before I go to bed, I'll usually end the day by pulling out my SpyderPac and choosing my two knives to EDC for the following day. Always fun to flip the pack open and fondle a few folders before going to sleep.

Spyderpac hanging on back of my closet door. Easy to get what I want that day. Easy to grab and take with me if I want. Easy for a theif also except if they've gotten that far in my house, there is much more valuable stuff already probably gone and insurance will cover it.
