After heat treating some ATS-34 blades in an oven, got a slight warp on one blade. It is not tempered yet. What is the best way to straighten it?
Thanks in advance. Dan

I work on RWL34 but it is basically same steel. I have some warped blades occasionally I correct them at the plastic state around 500 - 400 F with thick leather welding gloves. But as your's is hardened and cooled to room temp the only thing I can think of, you should austenize it again and at the cooling stage you'll have a chance to correct this warp. It is not possible to correct it just heating it to 500 F, it should be cooling down from the austenization heat...

You can go through the HT again and straighten, you should take advantage of the plate quench for air hardening steels like ATS-34. Using two large aluminum plates and squeeze, straight every time. Also you can straighten any time down to about 400 - 600 f. I pull from the kiln give it a quick check, straignten as needed and the put between plates.
