my Dad has these pieces of sawmill bandsaw blades, and was wanting to take some off of his hands, only thing is it is nowhere near straight! How would one go about straightening it to use for blades? I guess not knowing what composition it is would make the HT a hit or miss venture even after I got it straight.

You have to heat it and bend it straight...

FWIW, some of my small samples showed a bit of a 'wow' when I started. It was really noticeable when I was hardness testingbefore heat treat. After hardening, the samples were flat - without any intervention on my part. Seems they 'remembered'.
