HELP! I have sooo many multotools I could never use them. I'm afraid if I sell them that I could not get even near their value, even though they are near mint (sad, because I hardly use most of them...). Is it better to trade them away or try to sell them? Your opinions?

Just stick them in knife sheaths like I do. Then you're always prepared. :p

If they are near mint, then you should get near their value, sold or traded.

Multitools are pretty much like knives, though it seems their value drops faster than knife values unless they become discontinued.

I suspect which method of divestiture that results in the least loss will depend upon what you're looking for.

If looking for money, just see what the market will bear. If you desire some particular thing, then it becomes a matter of what the other person also wants.

Good luck either way.

I have given away several to friends and family who had a need for a multi-tool. They are great gift items.

You could sell them at reduced prices, but as mentioned, you will take a hit on the original value. Trades might be the best option to move into another knife or tool at comparable original value.

I agree. I see no reason you can't sell your extras right here.

Try selling one here, and see how it goes. Adding a pic helps it sell. You have some good feedback started, and the more posts and feedback you have, the easier it is to sell something.

A lot of multitools are overpriced. I'm waiting for a sale before I get a Leatherman Juice CS4 - the best price I've seen is about $55 even the S2 is $45. I plan to use it for backpacking but I don't really need it. A swiss army knife and a Buck Diamondback work for my needs right now. I plan on using the Juice for winter backpacking so I'm thinking the pliers might be helpful.

If you really want to sell post them on some of the forum classifieds sites. You have complete control of the prices you'll accept and can adjust as necessary.

Multitool.org will probably bring the best prices for any rare/odd tools.

EDCforums/Bladeforums/Knifeforums will get you decent prices for the most common productions.

I unloaded several dozen multi-tools this summer. Most sold for at least what I paid for them, although I did buy them for a significant discount from retail on the secondhand market originally. EBay should be a last resort, the high fee percentage is rapidly making it an unattractive place to sell anything.
