Hello all.. I am looking to add another 9" disc grinder to my VS 9" disc grinder set up,one is vertical and the second will be horizontal. I was told i can wire the KBAC-24 to run both disc grinder set ups off the one controller. How do i do this? Do i need to order any special knobs or connectors for the KBAC-24D controller? Thanks in advance..

Buy a 3 pole, double throw switch like McMaster Carr # 7343K861 and a dust boot for it.

Wire the VFD output to the center poles on the switch, and the top poles to one motor, bottom poles to the other.

All of this fits in one of the spare holes on the KBAC.

A few cord grips for wires to run in and out of the bottom, and you are in business.

Edit: It all fits in a KBAC 27, but make sure there is room in a 24.....

I'm running two different 2hp machines off the same VFD. My local electronic guru took a Baldor VFD, and wired all the controls into a custom box so that I have all the switches and rheostat in one place. I don't even touch the actual VFD.

The whole thing, with the VFD, custom control box, and two used Baldor 3 phase 2hp motors was about $800.

I run a double disc grinder with one motor, and a 10" grinding wheel/wire brush wheel, on the other machine.

The 2hp motors are overkill, but there's no substitute for overkill. It beats the hell out of maxing out the VFD. They don't last long if you barely have enough oomph.
