I recently purchased some parts of Ebay to set up my forge with a thermocouple and PID controller!
The thermocouple that arrived is not like the one in the pic where I ordered. The one in the picture had set screws on the back to connect the wires. Although this one seems to be a good one as it has a series of cermaic blocks that slide onto it to protect its lifetime. I questioned the supplier about the lenght as it said to order for length and I could not find a option to enter the length of it. He emailed back and said not to worry make sure it would be long enough and if too long I could trim with wire cutters. After seeing it I usnderstand what he meant about the length being able to be trimmed with wire cutter!!!!!!!!
This is what arrived in the mail.

My question comes from "HOW TO" on the hookup from the thermocouple to the PID controller. As you can see in the pic the ends of the thermocouple are approx. 1/8" in diameter.

The ends of the connector that came with the PID controller are wire connectors on one end (which is to connect to the contoller) itself and a screw in connection on the other end for a standard thermocouple.

However in this instance that is not going to work, so here is the question.
Where do I get the proper line or how do I go about making the proper line to make the connection between the thermocouple and the PID controller, and how to I make that connection at the thermocouple.
I am thinking that this connection has to be made by the properly insulated wire as the one supplied with the controller has a metal casing around the wires. This one is sort of out of my experience zone, :foot: so would appreciate any info anyone can share as to the "how to" on making a proper hookup!!!!!
