Ok I know there is a few folks out there that have the Junglas. How tough is it? I read a review on Woodsmonkey and it seemed pretty good. But I wanted to see who on here has one that they've used for a little while on a regular basis. Would you use it hard since the blade is only .18 thick or would you use it more like a machete? This knife just along with the ESEE 4 has me really drooling.

Oh it's tough all right! As you see in the video it can take abuse.... mine has held up VERY well. I haven't even been able to beat the coating off yet!

it's a beast. i've been beating the crap outta mine for awhile now. parts of the logo are now unreadable since it's been batoned through wood a lot. ever since i got the junglas my two 1/4" blades (bk2 & rc-5) have been collecting dust.

out of all my knives, the esee-4 & junglas are my main hiking/survival knives. they pair up very nicely! if i feel like it the third blade is usually the lite machete.

I finally got mine out and hammered it through some tough wood. Batoned it halfway through a knot I don't think a wedge would have split. Edge held up just fine.

Only issue I had was on the belly I hit some rocks and rolled the edge. But really that's my fault. What do you expect hitti g rocks. I'd post photos, but five minutes on the sharpmaker and it's all worked out.

I love this knife, but lately my lite machete is seeing all the work.

I can say I've never seen 1095 give that much without breaking. Yay Rowen. Although I can't say much for his safety practices.

I doubt it was ground, and really, while going fast, I doubt snapped metal would embed.. Deep....

telephoto lens on camera and no one in the flight path - not as unsafe as it looked to an outsider according to Shon Rowen in the original thread about the video.

i am considering one myself.it is between the junglas or the bk9 with the micarta scales.i have the izula,4,and 6 and love them.i also have the bk2 and the becker necker.i know someone has both bk9 and junglas.can i get some advice..the esee warranty has already got me leaning a little.

I have both, including the micarta scales on the BK9. Both are very good tools - I just happen to fancy the micarta handles on the BK9 for chopping a bit more than the Junglas. That being said, it's a very fine line indeed. I personally resolved the dilemma by dragging them both with me on my outings!

Is it your lite machete sheath in the photo (on top, to the left) ?

May I ask you what is it or where did you get it ? I trying to find a replacment for the now completely destroyed original lite machete sheath I received and some member where talking about a condor one that i just can't find anywhere easily.. I need one that will snap around the handle like a molle back to keep it from moving... and that its available at some trusted store.. of course :)
Any idea are welcome. Thank you

Are we talking of the Junglas on backorder??

Wherever he bought,it must have it on backorder, because Derrick still has 21 in stock.

I think the Junglas is plenty tough. Not my first choice as a chopper, but it will get the job done.

It never needs sharpening! It's tough enough to saw through a hammer and still cut paper thin slice of tomato! Amazing. How much would you expect to pay for such a knife?

:)

Thats what I was wondering. I knew KSF and the Knife connection both has them. I have some play money from selling a few pocket knives and am debating on what I want. Junglas, ESEE4, ESEE3, Junglas backpack, or Maxpedtion Condor 2. Problem is they all sound nice.:D Truth be known the backpack while would not see much use might be a better investment. I have a few good knives even though they are not ESEE ( but I really want one). As far as packs go all I have is the Maxpedition gearslinger Lunda and an LL bean ( go ahead and laugh) canvas Ruck sack I bought a few years ago before I ever heard of Maxpedition or ESEE.
