How Well Does Wave Work for IWB?

I've searched and read here and am not finding any very clear answer - how well does the "wave" opening work when the knife is carried in the waistband?

It probably varies by the material that they're made of. This is only a guess, no actual experience, but I'd think that sweat pants or similar would work best, jeans or other relatively heavy/stiff fabrics would be worst and khakis and dress pants would be somewhere in between.

I don't think I'd want the Delica or Endura riding next to my skin though. . . I think that the handles would chafe.

My personal experience is that the best place for the wave is a jeans back pocket, works perfect every time. Unfortunately the wave doesn’t work well with my 5.11 Tactical pants.

I have found that the wave function works from IWB, but it is much easier to wave from a front or rear pocket. As far as IWB, I find carrying behind the hip at about 4 o'clock if you are right handed works pretty well. You may be able to wave into reverse grip with the knife carried in front IWB, but I don't think I would try to wave into a standard grip from IWB in front.

That's my experience anyway. Hope it helps.

It can be done. However, and you can see this from watching that youtube video, it sometimes requires a less than optimal grip. I don't like such a grip, personally, because if SHTF it is one more thing that can go wrong.
