How will your heirs deal with your knives?

I'm leaving mine to the HOGS I like here on the forums...

Hmmm, now who gets the Chuckette'?

Daddy?;):D

Hey, I can have more than one dad! Although I'm not an Officially Registered HOG (nor very likeable), so good luck to 1whobuys shortlist.;)

I don't know....But if they are smart, they will open my collection file on the computer and see what I have spent and go from there. My instruction is, everything is worth more that I have listed!!!!:D

My wife wants to make a spread sheet, I don't know if that means she's planning for death or divorce, either way kinda scary to think about when I'm still under forty.

As it stands now if I checked out today my wife would have a good ideal what to do as long as she sticks with the philosophy of Busses, Randall's, and Reeves stay in the family, I won't have to come back and haunt her.

I`ve already given some to my two son in laws, and my youngest daughter, who is not yet married. The rest will be divided up among them when I die.

It would be good to keep a list with photo, price paid, date, and any special info ('Ganza, overrun, HOG acquired from, etc.), for insurance purposes at least. If you're super organized, you can update with current resale value. Current resale would be a good place to start for a Bladeforums sale, or knock a bit of to put it on the auction site. Perhaps keep a list of trusted HOGs or knife dealers who are knowledgeable enough to help with pricing, or might buy a collection outright.

Also a good idea to decide how to pass them on - a little at a time while you're alive, specific blades to specific people after you pass, auction the whole thing and distribute the money, let people pick (with fairness rules - pick one at a time, everyone gets an equal $ amount according to original purchase price, certain % of the collection per person, whatever - it's easy for people to hurt each other's feelings in these matters).

Who's your buddy, Chuck?!?!?

:D:D:D

Funny, I was discussing this with a Hog this weekend. While one or two would function as heirlooms, most wouldn't unless one of my kids got into the addiction. Both the other Hog and I have made arrangements with a certain person or two who would handle selling them. Funny thing was, **HE** is the person I'm having my wife call to liquidate - It was good of me to finally tell him. ;)

We're calling it...

The DeathGanza!!

They go to the grave with me..... Like I have said before, youll have to pry them from my cold dead hands!

Interestingly we were just talking about this at the Knob Creek show, Garth had a great idea for me so I'm going with that.

It will be called "Eric's DeathGanza" ;)

:D:D

I am taking them with me .... Because I am not sure where I am going!

And when I get there then we can discuss who gets to keep them!!
:eek::D:thumbup:
