First off I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere, I am new to this forum.

For some time I have been messing around with design ideas for edc folding knives. What id like to know is what the most efficient/viable way to get a design of mine made into an actual knife from quality materials. This isn't intended to be a large number of units, primarily a few so I can actually carry and use my designs. I wouldn't imagine id need to make more than a few as I am a no name enthusiasts at this point and the demand for my designs would likely not be very high. What would those of you with experience suggest? Pitch my designs to a reputable knife company? To a reputable blade smith? Actually making them myself is really more than I can chew atm, id prefer they be made well, lol. Any help is appreciated.

The cheapest method is to pay a maker to make them for you.
It's highly unlikely a manufacturer would pick up your designs, unless they are revolutionary.

Bill is very correct. I suggest You make a new thread asking who might make one for you and then continue with private emails as to all concerning matters . There are some very capable makers in this forum. Frank

Custom maker is the only way to go. Assuming a manufacturer would produce your design, you would probably have to buy hundreds of them.

I'm not aware of any manufacturers taking custom orders like that. The costs to setup and run a new design are substantial and wouldn't wash over just a few knives.

Most custom makers can make something like what you have in mind, but it is always going to be an interpretation of your design melded with their techniques.

If you have good correct solid CAD geometry and dimensioned and toleranced prints a prototype job shop can make your design exactly to your data, but even something as simple as a frame lock folder is going to be several thousand dollars.

Given these choices, most folks either make it themselves or get a custom maker to help them.
