How would you make scales for the Endura 4?

I'm thinking of making scales for the Spyderco Endura 4, FFG. Considering using Micarta, but maybe wood as the material. However, the problem is there's nested liners in the knife. Would it be possible to ignore the nested liners, and just make it using flat Micarta/Wood? Or would I need to carve out a space for the liners, and how would I do so? I only have basic hand tools, and a drill.

If you can make your own scales, you might consider making your own liners. You could go for full-length liners rather than nested ones.

no liners could absolutey work with micarta. that won't be the first linerless lockback, just forget the clip or find a way to epoxy metal inserts for the screws. linerless with wood scales...hum, perhaps but i don't know.

So having no liners wouldn't hurt the knife correct? Also, what's the best way to put it back together? Last time I did this... I had to kind of slam the lockback pivot screw... like the screw wouldn't go in no matter what, but I kinda tapped it on some wood a few times... okay more than a few times to get it in, and before that I kept slipping, and it was really frustrating for me. I was trying to put it back together by leaving the lockback bar out.

Also, the screws are sunk in.. anyone know how to do that with a drill?
