For three years, since I've been making knives, Howard Clark has always shown up to the local meetings when I didn't, and vice versa. Phone calls and e-mails are rarely answered. Once, he taught a forging class, only I found out about it the day after the classes ended. I inquired about future classes and have never heard back. You wouldn't think someone that lives 10 minutes from you would be so difficult to contact.
Today, he shows up at the meeting and someone points him out. I claim he's a clone, my son says robot. After a good 30 minutes of hanging around Howard and chatting with him, we're convinced he's real. We got invited to his shop and got his good e-mail address! And, just like you'd expect from a full-time smith, he's got a handshake grip like a 10-ton press!
Here's Graham with Howard.
