How'd I end up with this?

It's a #56 Dogleg and the only other pattern that I'm aware of that GEC has used the Coconut Palm on is the Courthouse Whittler.

Here's a poor pic of mine. Nine of them made, unless I'm terribly mistaken. Upon 1st seeing it, I called Chris at the factory and she indicated they'd used coconut palm before but it was limited and she couldn't remember on what pattern. FWIW, the shields on these are a bit larger than on the ebony versions.

That's very interesting. Thanks for the info. I didn't even think to look through the past production totals to see if they had used it in the past. Just because I don't remember seeing any, that doesn't mean they haven't used it. There are plenty of short runs they have made that I was totally unaware of.

I'm sure others here have had this experience before but it's a new one for me. I normally know what I'm looking for before ordering a new knife. A GEC #62 Easy Pocket Congress was the intended purchase and I found myself perusing some dealer websites trying to decide between the Interior Ram Horn or Raisin Jig Bone scales. I'm not sure what happened, but somehow this one weaseled its way into my cart instead.:confused::confused:

This kind of thing seems to happen to me pretty often. I've quit wondering about it that much and just accept it. I probably need therapy, but I'm not real interested in getting any. - Ed J
