Hey Guyon, I think I can put my finger on why. The HRLM is nearly perfect. Not INFI, not perfect lanyard hole location, choil too small to use but bigger than it needs to be if its for sharpening to the edge, etc. If Jerry made this knife with a talon hole and INFI (which he did, its a BAIII) he could make a million of them. Same with the RMD. I just got my first and immediately overpaid for my second. The rats are making better users than Jerry is. I know this is blasphemy, but hear me out. I love my new ASH1, but it is kind of heavy for everyday use. Game wardens are great, but I can do everything with my HRLM in an only slightly larger package. BATACS, I like mine, but lay a RMD next to it and you have more knife in a more compact, lighter package. Not everyone chops with every knife we own! I am holding out alot of hope for Jerry's bushcraft knife. Not because I like to carve out wooden spoons either. I want basically something between the HRLM and ratmandu with the pommel extending slightly like in the groovemaster or buffalo soldier. This allows point first batoning, pommel for light staking, and if its squared off its great for sheathed firesteeling. Last thing before I turn the rant off, forget the tac handle and steal the HRLM (RMD) grip. Its even better than the old straight handles (that might have been slightly exaggerated).
