I know the official debut is some time next week but how about a few "unofficial" pics for the forumites?

Please?!

I would love to show pics of the knife but i STILL don't know how to post them! I am definetely not computer savy. Its a miracle that i manage to figure out how to turn the thing on every morning!
I can take a picture of the knife from the magazine and send, via email, a jpg.
Would that do?

Joe,

That would be great. Or you could just send me the knife and I'll try to describe it for the rest of the forumites.

Either way, I'll be happy.

Thanks in advance,

How about whoever gets a JPG posts it here?

Unless Joe has another knife to send me, then I could scan it and post it here..... and I won't even charge for my time : )

STRIDER FOLDER!

STRIDER FOLDER!

STRIDER FOLDER!

Sorry for the shouting. I'm just too excited about this knife to whisper.

I have a new Buck catalog in front of me with a picture and some details on the Strider. It is a large tactical knife (5 3/8" closed. I will provide more info in my next post. I need to test this post to be sure my computer is properly working.

Ok, I can continue. The blade is a 4" tanto with no serrations and is made of ATS-34. The handle is G10 reinforced with titanium liners which are also used to lock the blade open in the standard linerlock method. The Strider has a stainless steel clip and weighs
5.75 oz.
There appears to be 4 black rivets which hold the knife together. Also, there appears to be a small lanyard hole in one corner of the knife body. Buck's model number for the knife is 880.
I hope this helps out. The knife has a MSRP
of $190.00

Here it is.

It debuted at the SHOT show in Vegas, and was the subject of a lot of curiosity. The design is strictly for strength and utility.

I was asked many times if this is a "combat" knife, and all I could say was '... you would want this on your side.'

The boys from Stryder were on hand at our booth to answer questions. For some reason, having them around makes you feel really safe! :-)

Yes, thanks for the pic. I've seen Strider stuff and they are not "wimpy" by any means!
So it looks like you guys have got one stout folder there, can't wait to handle one.

I put some on order at the SHOT Show and was told to expect delivery around April.

This is one tough knife. It's solid and heavy. (Duane doesn't design wimpy knives.) Good texture on the scales for a positive grip and the blade swings really smooth. It can be used in gloved hands with no problem.

I recommended a couple of refinements but I don't know of they'll do them. It doesn't really need anything more to make it work. Not a knife for everyone but one SERIOUS tool.

This is new territory for Buck and they made the right move in going with Strider. I would stand it up against a production Emerson (Commander, SpecWar, CQC7, etc.) any day. I would carry one.

What about the heat treat on this knife? Does it go through the same process as the regular Strider Knives go through that make them so tough?

Paul Bos has been heat treating Strider knives for a long time. Like 10 years. Paul has his shop inside our facility and we tap him for expertise when we use exotic steels.

We routinely get 60-61 for ATS34 and 61-62 for BG-42. We are not changing a thing from Strider's design and based on the field tests they have already done this knife will really perform.

Here is another issue hot off the presses.

We have decided to produce the first 500 pieces numbered and out of BG-42 steel. That decision was made this morning. They will also sport a stamp emphasizing that Paul Bos did the heat treat.

I think, based on response so far that this first 500 will be very collectable.

Put me down for one.

If there is something I need to do to reserve one, PLEASE let me know.

Desperately hoping,

How about numbering the first batch and offering to the folks on the forums? Put me down for one as well.

How about something really wild. Like say first 25 in 420V.
