There was a talk on the bad times at case, with some layoffs a while back. Has anyone heard anaything about how they are doing with the so called bouncing back of the economy?

Carl, I shot off an email to my point of contact after you sent me a message on this.

I'll do so again and report back when I get a reply. (It probably slipped through the cracks the first time around.)

Thank you sir. I was wondering.

I'd hate to see an old line historic company like Case go down. I think it would be a worse loss than Camillus in a way. Lots of really good folk there in Bradford.

Carl,

It is too early for manufacturing companies that are totally based on consumer spending like Case to feel any upturn.

My company in the semi-conductor industry in now feeling the beginning of capital spending.
So until the chips get made then put into consumer products is still quite a time

Carl,

Here's a portion of an email I just now received from my friend at Case which provides a bit of good news...

...We are holding our own here; rebounding somewhat from the bad economy. We recently called back 12 workers in part due to a measured uptick in sales, but also in anticipation of the upcoming holiday season which we are hopeful will produce good results for us into next year. Please thank everyone for their concern and support – we ALL need it!...

Hope that helps some and let's all keep our fingers crossed for our friends at Case and all the good people who have been hit hard by current events.

for sure:thumbup: thats at least 12 more people that might experience a little relief over the coming holidays:thumbup:

and not to hijack your thread jackknife but i pulled the trigger on a yeller cv peanut for my father for christmas:)
F&F is darn near perfect, Tight, No Wiggle, just the right amount of walk and talk and razor sharp.
Excellent little knife, might just have to get one for myself someday;)
cheers
ivan

Good news.

Maybe everyone should buy a Case for somebody they have on thier Christmas list. :)

I certainly hope things continue to improve. I live a few hours from Bradford and my wife and I love to visit the Zippo-Case Visitor Center. Bought a yellow CV Pen Knife last time we were there - just about a month ago. They were pretty busy that day (weekday) so that is a good sign I hope.

That's good advice jackknife.

Is there a way to do this direct? I'm sure that If I buy from a distributor, Case benefits, but I have a feeling they will feel the benefits more quickly if we were to purchase from them directly. I could be wrong though. Good to hear that they are recovering, anyway.:D

I just bought myself a Case 2009 Christmas Trapper with engraved bolsters...just doing my part to support Case of course.:o

Seriously, glad to hear that they are doing a little better. Hate to think of another American knife maker going under.

Every day is a good day to buy a Case.

If they went out of business and some lame company started producing junk knives under their name, I think I might kill myself.

I think I might have to join you. Schrade closing was hard on me. I really don't want to see it happen to Case. Lets hope for the best.

I bought 8 in the last 4 weeks. Need to keep them around. I just discovered traditional folders.

Ivan, as long as you're talking about peanuts, you can hijack my thread all you want!:D

I would hate to see Case go the way of Schrade in manufacturing overseas. I can't think of anything more American than a Case knife.
My last two purchases have been Case - CV mini Trapper and SS amber bone med Stockman.
Everybody buy a Case knife today.

I recently bought a Crandall (Case) greenbone Jackknife and 3 Zippo Handy Warmers (Zippo owns Case). The warmers work really well, no smell at all, just 24 hours of clean dry heat. I plan to use them afield and camping this winter.

I've always liked the idea of Case knives more than actual Case knives. But I have to admit that new blue Delrin Sodbuster is really calling to me.
