How's Hunting going?

Hey guys, I just wanted to ask how your hunting season has gone so far? Here in Wisconsin, and some other Midwest states, Deer hunting (Rifle) is in full swing, and I thought it would be cool for everyone to share some Hunting stories... and maybe some cool hunting knives. :D

Rifle*season*in*Ontario*for*whitetails*was*the*first*two*weeks*in*November.*Our*group*did*well*with*7*deer*between*6*of*us*in*the*first*week.*I*came*home*on*the*first*saturday*and*went*hunting*with*my*girlfriends*dad,*as*we*both*still*had*a*tag.*Within*an*hour*we*knocked*down*2*more*whitetails,*so*at*a*total*of*nine.*I*was*fortunate*enough*to*shoot*a*nice*eight*pointer*and*a*good*size*doe.*The*cutlery*used*for*field*dressing*and*skinning*was*ruko*set*with*a*folder*and*a*fixed*blade*with*a*gut*hook.
 
This is a decent year for quail and possibly chukkars in the Eastern Sierras. The jackrabbits are as big as cats, and easily leave my pursuing Labs in the dust. They seem to sail on effortlessly, their passage only disturbed by bullets.

Not so good for us. Missed a nice buck at Sunday. He was 100+ yards at full tilt boogie when I saw him.

THAT SUCKS! I saw a nice 8-pointer yesterday, that got spooked by the 12-pointer I saw running behind him ;). Although, he was moving too fast for me to get a shot off. :thumbdn:
 
two does in the freezer now.

Next week, I'll be up in Georgia hunting some private land. Time for a buck now. :D

PA100020.jpgPa. rifle opens monday. 11/28 ..Was hoping for some snow,,been raining a lot,lot.. And its mud and slop..food plots are water log . Archery was slow,,rained a lot,,passed some small bucks ,,looking for a big one ..Seems to be some does around ,,even thou the state wants them all dead..
If its like last year we got 2 foot a snow mid week ,then nothing moved. At least there were fewer shot last year due to that , Then antler laws changed to 3 up on one side , state wants to kill them all off ..So hoping for some fun ..Hunt my own land retired now ,must have 400 hours working the property this year just for game hunting.. So its a big 2 weeks of rifle for me ..
Be safe out there hunting ,shoot str. And injoy it while it lasts..

I almost got a nice buck two nights ago with my KIA. You guys need to shoot more deer.
 
No deer for me this year. The story around here this year is that the numbers are way down after a couple pretty hard winters and some disease. We hunted pretty hard, but just never had a real chance to get anything. I might have been able to get a doe if I woulda had a tag for one.
 
Shotgun season just opened here, got myself a bambi. Not big, but it is going to be some good eating. Shot her at 4:12 this evening
 
I've spent roughly 75 hours in a treestand with a bow this year, One close call with a shooter, but twigs/junk in the way. Shotgun season starts Saturday, twigs will not stop me from pulling the trigger now! Good luck all, aim small miss small, shoot straight.
 
I have gotten a few does this year. Passed on several small bucks. On a great note my wife killed her first deer with a muzzeloader! About 10 minutes later I took a large doe as the light was fading (we were sitting in the same stand). I took her out for the first day of shotgun but had no luck and I passed on a few does. Hope to get out to the family farm this saturday in PA to go after some more whitetails. I did do some duckhunting this year. Gotten a few wood ducks.

I got a decent 8 point ( which I posted a week or so ago) and earlier this season I shot a smallish 6 point ( meat deer) with my crossbow in all honesty this was quite possibly the most enjoyable deer season I've had in the past several years I dunno why but I really just enjoyed taking a break from society and people for a while and just being in the woods.
 
been going OK this year for me.

bagged a couple of goats and a crapwadload of pigs with my compound bow.

the rains have arrived, so i'll probably be unable to get out hunting again until sometime in February :(

i'm glad we don't have 'seasons' in Oz. if it's feral, it's in peril!

Sat. put a 12 year old in my good stand with his dad, He shot at a huge 10 pt. broadside, missed , figures I never killed a huge buck on my land ,,,that the day I felt good doing this ..one came along,, Its was agreat day to help track up the shot on a 12 year old ..It was sad ,he did not hit it..
Thats hunting,, and a memory and a lesson to the boy..
Been mostly rain so far for Pa. deer rifle season thats only 2 weeks long,,last year there was 2 foot of snow this time ,which was worse..
Bagged this male coyote short 50 pds. skin length nose to tail tip 67 in. we ran down 2 got them both, will help the deer herd around my place..
