Hey folks,

I just wondered how the CPM-D2 is holding up for everyone. Either in your Paramilitary or your Military.

I just snagged a CPM-D2 Military and it's just sweet. I badly wanna use it but at the same time I wanna baby it and/or put it away.

I just wondered for those of you that have this blade steel how it has been overall for you?

Thanks :)

My Para Military has been my EDC for about 4 weeks. I have had it for about 9 months. The first thing I did was to make some changes to the Knife. Made a low rider clip, re-contoured the handle a bit. This was all personal changes. The knife itself performs very well. I did strop the blade while watching TV and it is the sharpest knife I own. Has stayed razor sharp while performing everyday tasks. I am a fan of CPM-D2 and this knife just confirms my feelings on this steel. Very smooth and solid knife.

My blade is holding up quite nicely, when I first got it I was OCD about wiping it down every night and sharpening it a little, but as time goes on you realize that the blade, even tough it is a carbon steel, doesn't develop a mark/stain that can't be easily removed and the blade holds an edge quite nicely.

I alternate my millie in green and a manix, and while I've sharpened the manix twice over the last 6 months or so, I have yet to use anything but the porcelain sharpmaker rods to touch up the military. Still scary sharp - but I'm also a tad bit OCD about wiping down and the like - So far the steel is a winner in my book

My CPM D-2 Millie has held up as well as any other D-2. IOW, truly outstanding!!:p:thumbup:

I have been using my Para-mili for 5 months. Its a great folder. The blade has been holding up great. I sharpen it when it gets dull. It comes back to life on the sharpmaker. I wouldnt say i abuse my knife, but I use it hard. Its a great performer. CPM-D2 has been a great blade material. I have cut through alot of different materials .. hemp rope, nylon rope, a gozillan cardboard boxes, radiator hoses, tire patch kits, whittled some wood off of wooden fencedoor, Ethernet cable, phone cable, mail, oranges, grapefruit, apples. I use it. I wash it with warm detergent. blow dry it. rub a little mineral oil on it. Its ready for more action. I would probably use Hopps oil. But I have been cutting food with it.

If they would only make a foliage green Dragonfly with CPM-D2 .. (hint hint Sal ...)

Though I have no other Mili to do a comparison, I really like the D2 in my Mili. I can get it hairwhittling sharp and sharpening is an easy job on this blade. The reason might be that I don't let any of my blades get dull. Rusting hasn't also been a problem during cutting vegetables in the kitchen and a lot of other chores that cross my path every day. To put it in a nutshell, I'm more than satisfied with the steel and I do love my Mili. IMO, it's a great combo.

I have a CPM-D2 Para and I was a little OCD about the "semi-stainless" steel at first, too. Now I treat it like any other stainless steel and I have not had any problems with it. I have used it to prepare a chicken for cooking, sliced green peppers, apples, oranges, sausages, etc. I have cut apples while hiking and would not clean it until I got home hours later - just a little soap and water, good as new.

Go ahead and use it.

My D2 Para is my favorite EDC and gets medium use cutting boxes, plastic, tape at work.

I have had no issues yet, it sharpens up easy on the sharpmaker and takes a hair-popping edge

Come on CPM D2 dull already; I want to see how easy you sharpen!

My paramilitary is holding up well. It stays sharp and is easy to sharpen on crock stix. I have some light staining on mine but do not pamper it and wore it in the summer covered in sweat. I used it for food prep camping and did not take any immediate care to get the blade cleaned right away. I rotate between paramilitary and lg. sebenza.
