Looking at the kershaw knockout for a folder with more edge retention then VG 10 but still sharpens like VG 10.

From user experience, how does it compare to Spyderco VG 10?
Does it perform well or would zdp 189 perform better?

Just picked one up - but currently its designated as a Safe queen...so can't answer your question. Great looking knife however!

In my experience ZDP-189 will hold an edge for longer, but is also more of a PITA to sharpen. Elmax will definitely hold a better edge than VG-10, though, I find it almost indistinguishable from S35VN in terms of performance, if I used both for a long, long time I would expect Elmax to come out on top.

Love that stone wash, cool video.

Thx guys. I'm trying to decide between a delica/stretch in zdp 189 and either the black wash or stone wash elmax knockout.

I had both knives. Lost the original knockout in 2013 at work. :(

Love my delica and endura but I love hair whittling edges at all times and I'm tired of stroping every day to keep it.

Any more recommendations would be rad.

Thx

Shawn.

I can't recommend a Stretch ZDP-189 more highly----it is my EDC at least 90% of the time. Knockout is too slippery. Don't be concerned about the FRN grips on the Stretch---they are incredibly well-engineered and fit your hand like a glove. Stretch rules.

I would get an Elmax Blur over all of the above mentioned and the Delica is my favorite knife. Ridiculously good steel and it works great in the blur package!

I will say this about my elmax knockout..yes the handle lacks grippiness, and yes I've dropped it a couple time while using it.
Despite the drops the blade has never chipped. It sharpens easy on a Sharpmaker and it stays razor sharp for weeks at a time. (At work I cut cardboard, tape, twine, plastic and the occasional piece of produce.
