The area I live in was called by the original explorers the basin. It was pretty neat injuns stealing white wimmen ( why???? ) must have been nuts, ect. water comes in hot and heavy but flows into the Wallkill which flows north into the Hudson it creates some interesting effects. Some of which go back to inquiry by Ponce De leon. In answer to your polite and concerned inquiry I should always be fine because of where I sit however I can often see the tumult. Larry may be a bit more at odds in fact he has had some really unusual times. Which is quite common in those areas. While stationed in the adirondacks I had a work detail of inmates washed away ( the officer recieved the state medal of honor ) for saving them . Happened in minutes. I love people in the smokeys and rockeys who think they know country the Northeast is where the untouched america is. As is the great CANADA. Thankyou for thinking of us Del. On the auction item you advised me of the seller said shipping was prohibative so I let it go. LT
Larry reports that most of the water fell to the West of him also this time, so besides high humility D ) and heat, no sun for days on end, mold growing everywhere, and oversized too-healthy moosquitos wearing green fur coats, all is well. Work (the paying kind) is however interfering with his more important pursuit of knifeology. Dang, I hate it when that happens! I can hardly wait to retire myself and...no wait, I'll be dead then! Well, maybe I can still send you guys back knife interviews from beyond. Jim Bowie, Mr. Devine, the Schrade brothers, the Baer brothers, Cushner, Webster Marbles ....hmmm.....
The Ducks & Beavers in Oregon have been watching the weather back in the NY area with envy.
Two days of record setting triple digit temps (Sunday & Monday) had given way to above average temps in the 80's, which feels cool after 103.
Got an early start to fire season.
Wish we could take a bit of the rain off your hands. Keep your boat handy Larry, sounds like LT is in a good spot.
We went to the grand-daughter's graduation last week and had a 1st floor room at the Holiday Inn in Owego (15 miles downriver from Binghamton).
The Susquehanna flows right behind the Inn and the water was about 35 feet(in elevation) below the Inn's ground floor. My son works for Lockheed-Martin,which is about a mile away and a lot higher than the Inn,and he said there was water in the 2nd floor of the Inn.
The Hickories RV campground in Owego, where we normally stay when we have the 5th-wheel,was under 10 -15 feet of water.
I'm glad that weather system didn't come thru 5 days earlier.
