I just returned form my nearest Walmart store. I was looking to see if they had any holiday Buck's. I did find several Hoyt H. Buck Founders Edition 112 knives for $25.00. They are marked as made in the USA but the box says the assessories were made in China. I just wanted to see what you folks think of this knive and do you think it is a good bargain? I couldn't handle any of them through the plastic but they looked like they were well finished out, mainly the scales and brass. Of course they had a tin box which was all encased in plastic.

They also had some little red scaled slip joint Bucks for $25.00. Each package had two knives, one average sized pocket knife and a small one. I didn't pay as much attention but I think I saw something about Trapper. They had a tin box also. They were marked "made in China" which is why I didn't pay as much attention to them.

Please let me hear your opinions on the $25.00 US made Founders Edition 112. Thank you all.

Aside from coming surprisingly dull, mine has worked as well as any 112 should.

Hi Nolan,

You should get one while the supply last's. A new in the box 112 sell for more than $25.00....and with this set you get a kewl tin can and a display stand!!!! I have one and it perfect in every way; you can't go wrong.....If you try it and you don't like it I'll buy it from you....so you can say that now you have a satisfaction guaranty from one of the Buck forum...nuts :).

Thanks JB. I may go by tomorrow and pick one up. I know the one and only 112 in my collection, a finger groove, cost a hell of a lot more than $25.00.

I bought a few 112s, so far, the ones I've opened up have been sharp with a tight lock up.

I love the 112.
Get all you can and use one, store the other in your time capsule (closet), and gift the others.

Better buy it! Great knife at a great price. The Walmarts in my area have been sold out of both the 112 and slipjoint holiday sets for over 3 weeks now.

Well, I went back and bought one today. It is fine. Well finished and sharp as hell. Nice knife for $25.

...Yep...That's a really nice lil' knife for this year...I put one of those in my EDC rotation and find it as nice a knife as a guy could want...Buck did good on their choice for a "tinned" Christmas toy this year...

I wish I could say I was going to EDC it, but I know I won't. I like to take my Bucks out and look at them but when it comes to carrying, my Commander or my Skirmish will be in my pocket. They are so fast to take out, use and put back in my pocket.

While were on the topic of these again, is the best way to store one to just leave it in the blister pack, or open that and remove the knife from the black felt liner?

...That's a great question TLC...I hate the damn plastic "vaults" these things are locked up in and would love to get rid of 'em myself...

The main reason I ask, I left one of lsat years "tins" with the 110, in the black felt liner all year. When I took it out the other day, the downside bolsters were dark brown. It cleaned off, but I was wondering if leaving them in the sealed plastic wold prevent that?

LC,,,,I have at least one old 110 in still in an original clampack and it has dulled on the bolsters some... So leaving them in the plastic won't prevent it.

Nothing will prevent brass bolsters from dulling. Some things might slow it down, but won't prevent.

Brasso :D
