Can anyone tell me the thread size of the two screws that are located at the penetrator? There is one very small set screw that holds the penetrator in. I can't get it loose. I assume it's a metric allen head. the other screw is in the fitting above and is a slotted screw on mine. (at least it was, I lost it). I really need the thread sizes of both, so i can replace the slotted head screw, and because i most likely will destroy the allan set screw with a screw extractor getting it out. Thanks in advance.

Kevin, I took the slotted screw that holds the diamond penetrator in and measured it. I screwed into a 4mmX.70 die to be sure I had it correct and that seems to be the size. Like you, I like the idea of a hex setscrew also - better than those slotted screws.

Ooops, I see you need the size of the screws in the larger piece - there are two of those screws and both are slotted and seem to be larger than the 4mm screw. I've got to run right now, should be back in an hour or so. I can check size of the larger screws then.

OK, I finally got back and pulled other screw - it's a 5mmX.80 screw. I was able to screw into a 5mm X .80 die so I feel fairly confident that is correct size.

I've used a lot of penetrating oil in my career and the absolute best if you can find it is Schaffers, next in line would be PB Blaster. Spray and let soak in. If your not in a huge hurry spray a dab on it several times over the coarse of a day before you ever try loosening.

i wish i had read this before i tried last night. It totally blew out the head of the allen set screw trying to remove it. I'm at a loss now as to how to remove it.

Is there any way to remove the diamond penetrator holder from unit? Those two screws above don't seem to hold it, but they do fiddle with calibration (ask me how I know:(). Those two screws on my unit were tightened until the slack was out, but can't call it snug. snug the screw, and the dial needle moves around. The ring on bottom of frame looks like it might have screws that would hold the penetrator holder in. If you take it apart, please take photos {g}

Maybe hammer and proper torx allen key will help ? Thats the way I do when I blew out the head of the allen set screw .............
