HT and sanding questions

I need some help finding a good HT company for a decent price. The first couple companies I found were peters heat treat and Texas knifemakers supply, but peters was really too expensive for just doing 1 blade. (I think it was about $20 plus shipping) and TKS only does stainless, whereas im using carbon steel. Does anyone use or know any other places that do HT? Given my past experiences, there's at least 1 place I know im just blatantly overlooking but haven't found yet.

And my second question, what is a good sanding grit to minimize scale from HT? I read somewhere about a week ago that a grit in the 400-600 range was good, but I dont remember the exact details.

And, if it makes any difference, im using 1/8 inch 1084.

TruGrit may do carbon steel.

FWIW, I doubt there is any place that will economically HT one blade. Make 5 or 10 at least if you're going to send out, IMO.

400 is plenty. A clean 220 or 320 wouldn't be bad.
