Hi everybody,
I spent last weekend for this project. It hasn't been completed yet but I can't wait any more so I gave it a run...
it took about 1 hour to reach 800 *C and I noticed that the insulation brick is not as good as I though. the outer side got up to 70-80*C.
Can anybody tell me that is it normal that the case of the HT oven gets this hot. am I doing anything wrong with the construction, can you give me advice?

I also attached some photo.

Thank you verymuch.

my home built one hits 1500* F in 37 minutes. the exterior does get pretty hot. sides get hotter than the top. your exterior temps are similar to mine.

Thanks Jerid. I lean a lot from your build. Can you tell me how thick your heat element is. I bought couple from ebay but they seem too skinny for me.

element wire diameter is 0.054 inches as best as I can measure. I bought my element from paragon as well. it was a replacement for the 24th unit.
