HT Scale on blade question

Guy's (gals as well) just a quick question, making a non-Christmas gift for my nephew who loves fantasy style blades, i hate them personally, but I figured I had some free time and made a knife for him, my intention is to make it look old and used, like something you would see in Assassins Creed (his favorite games). So after heat treat I sanded and left some scale and some tool marks. Will leaving some scale on there cause any issues?

The leather for the handle was just put to see how it would look and if I would like it.

Wont cause any issues at all. Probably protect it some to be honest. I think it would look good with a leather wrapped handle (well for that style). Sure he will love it.

thanks, just wanted to make sure. I am thinking brown leather, or wrap it with 1/2" leather strips would look better
