I was floating down the big river auction site and I found a good deal on HTM knives. I have read about a Gunhammer, but I'm not firmilliar with any of them. Can any of my BF brotherin give me the lowdown on HTM knives before I purchase one?
Thanks in advance.

Do a search, have a few laughs, then avoid at all costs.

This.
I have stayed away from them because of the problems some folks have had with the product, and C.S.
I've never had the desire to purchase a headache, but you might get lucky. Proceed at your own risk.

Or wait for the Kizer made cooperation which will resemble the gun hammer.

I have a gunhammer that I would be willing to send you so you could check it out for a while, no problem.

PM me your shipping info if you want to check it out.

Thanks mqqn, I will pass on HTM for now. I might look into the DDR at some point.

So now that I have an actual keyboard, I can flesh out my thoughts a little easier.

I was involved in the infamous DDR/HTM Bladeforums Gunhammer.

The problem was that it took an extended time to get our knives, and this made many people antsy. Once the knives were in hand, there were some that had problems with the etching, the stone-wash quality, and the edge if I remember correctly.

Mr. Ralph was somewhat less than gentlemanly in the way he handled the issues, and we were stuck with a knife that cost us upwards of $400 that ultimately did not hold it's value.

That said, I have one of the knives, and it holds an edge (S90 steel), and is comfortable to use, and I still carry it occasionally in rotation with my ZT and Kershaw knives.

The offer will stand, Mono, so if you change your mind and get a hankerin' to check one out just say the word.

There is a sub-forum here, that should provide you with information.

Sub-forums are VERY biased as most guys there are fans of the specific brand. I personally always go to this part of the forum if I really want to know the good, bad and ugly of something.

I have a fixed blade (can't recall the name, but it invokes a lot of machismo) from HTM, its got a 5' partially serrated blade in S30V with a gorgeous swedged clip point. I'm very meh on the satin finish. The black G10 scales look great with a reddish orange lining. It's definitely a tactical blade but I take it backpacking as a mid size FB for things other than processing wood. Works great, no complaints so far and I think the price tag ($140ish?) was a pretty good deal.

Thank you mqqn. What a generous offer. Some day I hope to take you up on that. I do like the looks of the DDR.

I was looking at the Blackie Collins, Snap, and Lightfoot Bullwhip. Those can be had for under $100.....
