HTMs can be customized to a degree as I've mentioned before. Think of an HTM custom as between the HTM line and the full blown custom line.

Sweet! I'm not usually much of a tanto guy, but if I ever got one this would be it!

I had to post this for Edge. He just bought that tanto Cuda Dominator. Figured he'd like this. I like more traditional tantos myself or the crazy stuff like the RC2 or the thing RJ Martin makes. But this design with the swedge and the overall blade profile is pretty awesome.

Whoa! Well, that answers my question! That's an awesome tanto blade!

The only thing that could make that blade better would be a full flat grind! And some DDR bling! :D

Just for the smaller percentage of the consumer base that want a tanto I suppose. Bowies are still my all time favorite blade shape as well. But in the case of the RC2 on my custom whenever I get it, I just wanted to step outside of the box.

Actually, taking a second look at the tanto blade design I would change one thing.

The Dominator tanto design has more symmetry than the Gunhammer tanto. The blade's design consists of hard edges, and the handle's design has more curves. The only place where the blade has a noticeable curved profile is where the design of the blade and handle merge, making a nice flowing transition from edges to curves.

If I were to order a custom tanto Gunhammer, I would ask Darrel to cut that tiny little hump down so that the line from the thump ramp to the tip is a straight line. Ditto on the parallel curve where the blade flat meets the primary bevel. Straightening those two lines would give the overall blade shape more of a hard chisel appearance, and I think it would really accentuate the look of Darrel's vicious tanto grind.

His custom (well I mean the custom customs not the HTM customs) knives tend to have a different blade grind from what I've noticed even if the blade shape is similar. The customs have a higher flat grind. Not full flat, but very high flat grinds. Check the RC2 for reference.

Very well said. I was thinking almost exactly the same thing when I first saw the picture, although I was too lazy to write it out (haha). Right now, the spine of the blade still has the curves of the bowie profile which (from the looks of it) was the basis for this new blade variant, while the cutting edge has the very hard edges of an aggressive tanto. I think your remedy is right on target, too: make the point at which the "drop" of the drop point begins a hard angle rather than a curve so that it better mirrors the hard edges of the blade (a la the AXD Expendables Tanto).

Camo anno costs 50 bucks, Darrel says.
Is the white/gray pictured the only camo color combination that's available, or can we pick our own combinations? If others combinations are available, I'd be all over a red/black or (if green ends up being an anodizing option) green/black custom shop Torpedo Gunhammer. :D

TOXIC green and black would be sick. USN colors are awesome.

I was checking out Arizona Custom Knives and I found this excellent specimen of a Gunhammer tanto. I'm not sure what circa it's from, but it's an kick-ass example of a Gunhammer done tanto-style.

Wachaaww!!!

Sorry to resurrect this thread but, is this only for gunhammers or could I say order a slightly recurved bowie with just the blade dlc'd when I order my gibbs? And any ideas on damage?

If I understood your question correctly, you want to order a Gibbs but with two blade profiles so you can swap them out at will. I asked Darrel and, yes, you can order that option but it will be custom of course. I don't have price info on a separate blade, but expect it to be somewhat expensive since the blade is still hand made and hand matched.
