I'm upgrading a KMG grinder to variable speed. Having difficulty getting speed control to work. I believe my wiring is correct, and I have seen the motor turn.

Motor, General Electric #108063-bes 2HP, 3-Phase 230/460, 6 Amps, 60Hz, 3450 RPM, 2 poles, 56C, TEFC, shaft = 5/8
VFD, Huanyang HY01D523B 1.5KW, 7. Amps

I'm currently using the Operator Panel for control, and will add the remote pot and switches after I get this to work. I do have the onboard shunt jumper set for local operator.
If I set Main Frequency PD003 to a value (5, 20, 50), when I press RUN to motor turns. But the variable speed knob makes no changes. But it seems to me that Main Frequency should be set to 60Hz.

Am I missing something? or what's wrong with my values?

I understand the only wires you have connected to the VFD are the 240vac input wires, and the output wires to motor and are operating everything from the control panel. The knob/pot on the faceplate is wired to the terminal strip? If so, then PD002 should be set to "1" to receive speed control from external source, the pot. With PD002 set to "0" then the speed would be changed by pressing the "up" 'n "down" arrows on the faceplate.

It's been a long time since I used the Huanyang VFD, so had to dig out the manual. Try changing the speed by pressing the up 'n down arrows. if that works, you can then change PD002 to the "1" setting.

Good luck and be sure to let us know if this solves the problem.

Yes, Thanks, PD002 set to 1 did the trick. I now have a variable speed grinder!
Still not sure if some of my other settings are correct, and it is difficult to understand some of the wording in the manual.
I would load a photo, but this is a temporary setup.

Ooops, I should have commented on the other settings. They look good to me. If you find the motor bogging down you might increase the amps to 7 or 8 (PD142)

I should have mentioned you can also have the display to show motor RPM, OR you can set it to show belt speed in SFPM if you desire.
