Been wanting on of these for some time. Thanks to BigSkyTrapper, he showed me a place to get it over $10 cheaper than where I was looking.

Made some more cotton wick char cloth for it, and put some basics in it. A new striker beats the back of my knives as well. Two different types of flint as well.

Cool, all the talk about them over the last month or so had me ordering one too. Though I've seen them at the rendezvous for years and never jumped on one, not sure why, I've wanted one for a long time.

I picked up copper one from Cash Manufacturing Company

These guys make what looks like a very good capper for percussion nipples. I'll have to give one a try.

Did you get all that flint from them too?
I need to get some more flint.

I picked up the striker with the darker flint chip. The rest of it is some I have had for a while.

I meant the tinder box. But thanks to the title of this thread I was able to find some.

I have all the components, just that tinder box is way nicer than what i carry my firekit in.

That is where I got my box from DannyBoy. I would have posted the link, but the last time I did that I was given a warning about linking to bargains or something.

I have used one for many years. I use a thin oval piece of pigskin (because it is thinner than buckskin) leather to match the bottom shape that I put my charcloth under as suggested. I also cut a another piece that goes under the inside of the lid. I always felt that my glass would then be protected. You can then pull the leather pad out and use it to hold your flint in your palm while you knap a sharper edge on your flint to make the steel spark better.

I use deer skin in my kits, in the tin kits I put the charcloth under fluffed jute or fluffed cotton, it protects the charcloth with tender that can also be used.

I like the heavy cotton webbing charcloth. I'll have to pick some up.

Those are what I use, too...... great little tins. I suggest that you cut a piece of leather to fit the lid of the tin. It protects the lens and comes in handy for knapping your flint back to sharp.

I like it as well. I have found that cotton wicks for kerosene lamps work the best for me.
