Does anyone here have a huge, custom folder, or a one off? Or have pictures of something like this? Please post.

Here's an old 1980's folder from retired MS Wayne Valachovic. It has a 6 1/8" blade.

Not sure your definition of huge, but this one's 10 1/2" overall

I've got a few....all are 5" or longer and the top two are over 6". :)

Wow, they are all very nice, but I particularly like the Tanto Recurve one, and the one that says "Marlowe". Who made these?

Yeah, that one is amazing.

Very nice!

I've searched around on Bladeforums for large folders a couple of times, but for some reason, there doesn't seem to be many large custom folders. How come? Do people just not want to display their custom stuff, or aren't there many? If you have any, or know of any, please post!

I find it hard to design a huge folding knife that makes sense. I'd really like to get the go-ahead to design around Demko/Cold Steels triad locking system, because everything that size I want to develop is going to chop stuff, as opposed to doing weapony type things, and triad can't be beat for rough use. I think if I were to have permitted access to the triad schematics, it would open doors for a more creative and practical approach. But for now, it's Walker lock, with secondary manual backup.

Here are a couple initial attempts. I wish I could post pics of real knives, but this is all I got.

Awesome. While a triad lock would probably be the best solution, have you considered a thick stop pin or something similar?

Here's a big folder that was posted on Bladeforums;

I recently got my order for this knife from Reese Weiland. A one of a kind, truly custom made super framelock. As far as I know no one has ever made a framelock this burly before.

Now the specs: .200 thick, 3.75 long CPM-154 blade, with reverse tanto blade shape with the first false edge shapened. Each handle slab is .250 thick Ti, with the portion under the multicolor Micarta .100 thick, and that is where the lock also flexes with no additional cutout. The backspacer is stainless steel to put more weight at the thin part of the handle. It also has a licensed Hinderer lock stop. 3/16 Hardened stop pin, and custom turned .250 hardened 440C pivot and screw. The weight is 10.75 ounces.

Here is a JD Smith MS folder that I have had for a long time. It has a 5" blade.

Here is another JD Smith MS Folder that I used to own. It had a 5 3/8" blade.

The Demko Tri Ad takes up an incredible amount of room in a folder. It will not yield anything close to optimum blade-to-handle ratio.

every mechanism has its challenges, that's for sure!

Lorien, the difficulty is not obvious to many, but it may be to you.....this is a particular issue.
