Huge folders! Do you use them?

There has been many a thread started on the topic of the beefiest, heaviest most overbuilt bank vault of a folder available. Knives that make a Strider look anemic in comparison. Knives like Direware, Demko, Crusader Forge ect. Huge beastly folding knives with .200 thick blades ... Anyway you get the point.

Who among you carries such a honey badger of a knife in your pocket? Wo uses these on a regular basis and what's your rationale? Better yet... Post pictures and prove your mettle in carrying such a piece of hardwear! I've never found much utility in anything more beefy than the Spyderco Gayle Bradley but I'd love to see and hear some opinions!

I usually carry a XM 24, fairly beefy. Main reason is that it fits my fat hands perfect!

I carry my huge mysterious monster folder allot, no idea who made it but its a beast.
I like it because if i dont have time to deploy the blade i can just smack the bad guy in the head with it :D

I have a thread trying to identify it,

For me, the huge - as in goofy huge - knives are just for fun.

There are some "dang big" - but not "goofy big" knives that I do carry, but even that is mostly for fun.

And then there are the just "big" knives, which aren't so bad to carry.

I just recently got into knives as far as collecting. I have always carried a pocket knife since I was a kid. I carried a Kershaw Boa for the last 11-12 years. I like larger knives. 3 1/2" to 4" blade. I never really considered the weight of the knife. I work in an auto assembly plant and spend a lot of time in the woods. A larger knife like the Benchmade Adamas is easier for me to handle at work 1 handed wearing gloves than a smaller knife. While in the woods I usually bring along a fixed blade but sometimes I don't have a chance to grab it. I always have a folder in my pocket, so I like it to be a heavy duty one just in case. So yeah I have the Adamas in my pocket 10 1/2 hours a day at work and never notice it. Wherever I go it goes and I have never thought it was to heavy.

Here is a pic of 2 of my most beefy folders.

Oh and here is a pic of my Boa although I don't consider it a beefy overbuild folder. Some of you probably do though.

I have an Espada XL which I carried for a couple of weeks, but I quickly realized that I couldn't use it for anything with people about because it was just too scary, so I carried an Ontario RAT1 as well. Then I realized that I was carrying two folders for no particular reason, so I bought a Spyderco Resilience. It's a large folder (the second largest Spyderco make) but it's not a particularly offensive looking knife, so I can use it for utility purposes without scaring people.

The largest folding knife I have ever owned was a Willumsen urban tactical with a 4.75 in blade. It was too big and too heavy to ever carry around, so it sat in a drawer until I finally traded it. IMO, any folder with a blade over 4 inches is pretty much a waste.

I prefer larger blades but nothing too long , something like this is large but not to big

I just picked up the cold steel voyager xl clip point !!! Let me say that being a huge huge knife I find it very easy to carry!! It's been my edc for 2 weeks.. I'm of average hight 6 ft with the hands of a giant .. I've had huge hands since I was kid so finding a knife that fits me was always a challenge .. The voyager fits my hands so good .I live in a state where I can carry whatever I want and to me a large folder just fit the part !!

I think if you are a big guy, which I'm not you should 100% get something that fits you. No reason to walk around with a tiny knife making your fingers look like overstuffed sausages when there are so many options available.

The largest I carried was a Cold Steel Spartan - I loved that knife, and the only complaint I had was the hump on top of the blade. Once I took that off, the knife looked perfect IMHO.

I traded it later for another I wanted to try.

Most of the time, I get by just fine with a 3.5" blade, but I do have some larger folders. I don't have problems carrying or using long bladed folders, its the really thick ones that I find rather useless. The biggest ones I've been carrying and using often are my XL Voyagers, I bought them just for kicks and ended up liking them. And yes, I carry both at the same time, just in case I need to behead some ninjas.

I carry a 4.2" Emerson every single day. I like to carry a throwaway knife for the crappier tasks, but I'm not afraid to cut a package or a feed bag with the Emerson. I like the size for an offensive weapon if my firearm fails. I've been carrying it for over a year now. I don't even think about its size any more. Texas carry laws are Good to go up to 5.5 inches.

Largest folders I carry are my ZT0301 and Cold Steel Spartan. I love my 0301, I have no need for a big folder just like carrying them.
