Huge New Model!!!!!!!!!! The Fiddleback Sirupate

Is "Sirupate" cajun for "zombie whacker"?

Seriously, that is one sweet short sword.

That is an incredible blade. When can I get I one.

That is simply stunning Andy! I love the lines and the spalting looks stupendous. I love the handle length, I bet the counter weight is fantastic. I also really like what you did with the handle. It's so much sexier than a prototype I made for a machete project for RMJ a few years ago. But we hit nearly the same overall dimensions, but mine was 3/16. 13 inch blade 7-3/4 handle. I can just imagine how that thing swings, I bet it handles like a dream. Very nicely done man. I don't how long it will be before I can afford one, but I hope you at least keep one for yourself because I'd love to at least borrow one for a personal photography project. The larger blades have been the hardest to sort out, but damn that would fit it perfectly.

My machete was a lot more utilitarian in nature, and so much more boring (though I did clip it after this shot to make it more kukri-esque), but I love that blade to handle ratio.

Next to a Trail Master Bowie for size reference.

Looks like an effective cutter but, you have heard the Poop Rule, right. LOL. No offense intended my brother.

Does it come in Bog Oak :D

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

It didn't do too bad in my thoughts just from some minor initial tests, but I will do the next one in 5/32. Lol, ummm...yeah, seems like I've heard that rule once or twice before somewhere :) No offense taken man, lol, I'm just not the ego-driven sort. That particular handle shape has worked pretty good for me so far, I suppose some rules were meant to be broken...or maybe it's all about the fiber :p But the request for this tool in particular included it having no point(s) at the pommel end so there are only so many ways to do that and still have a rear swell. Hell a few are still not even heat treated yet. We made several prototypes for that project and only two of them were heat treated at another friend's shop due to Ryan not having the time to deal with making a quench tank big enough for us. They settled on a profile shape, made the production versions, and sent those out to Peters for heat treating. I'll be up at Ryan's shop after Blade since he no longer works at UTC as well as RMJ, and has a lot more time. I'll make the tank we need and we will probably play with them all. Better than just letting them sit there and rust. I want to finish this one and play with it myself.

I'll put a handle on it if you want.

I'd re-design the back end, but thats it.

Now that's a knife!!

Very nice work Andy! I really like the guard and the fact that it is in 5/32". The grinds, spalting and swedge look great.

It looks like it is begging to be held in both hands and held like a light saber!

You could have made like 10 Kepharts out of that monstrosity...... J/K that thing is all kinds of awesome! I'll take mine in bolstered yeller please. With a matching Kephart :)

While I personally have no use for such a large beast as this, I admire the lines of the overall design as well as the tremendous skill it takes to make such beautifully even grinds on a blade that long. Very well done Andy!

The only feature I don't care for is the extended length of the guard. I am sure that it is very practical, but visually it makes me think of a smiling Hillbilly showing off his one front tooth. :) That's just my minority opinion. You clearly have a line of interested buyers who like it just fine as designed.

Thanks for continuing to innovate and bring out new designs.

Wow. I didn't know I wanted a blade that big until I saw this one.

Very pleased to see it completed!. Looking forward to opening a few coconuts with one soon :)

Great googly moogly! now you need to take it the other way and come up with a functional smallest pocket fixed blade. (like the micro Canadian from Bark River or the Alan Foults minimalists from CRKT.)

I love the runt, but even it is big. If you could shave an inch or so off the esquire then that would be the bomb. Maybe even size down the bullseye. Kind of a fiddleback for the guy that works in a cube on a computer all day and biggest challenge is batonning through an avocado or cutting the strap off a box of printer paper.
