Hey Guys..

I just got a set of Hultafors from my good friend Nicklas from Sweden,, in a Really cool piggybacked double sheath.

I got the dark Red brick colored handle and a smaller red handle..

The handles on these knives are Incredible,,nice and thick and Very comfortable..
I don't know,, but I think I've just found my new bushcraft knife!!

I'm very impressed with these blades....
We'll see how they handle themselves,, I'm sure they will be just fine...

Is there not a US distributor for these ???

Will have to shoot Ragnar an email...

If you like Moras,, your going to love these Hultafors for sure!!

I'm watching my mailbox, my GK heavy duty one shipped from The Good Stuff Shop in Denmark on the 20th!

Hey Guys..

TLC..

What handle color is your heavy duty ??

If it's the brick red one,, your gonna love it...

It's a Really nice thick blade and proportions are nice as well, handle a little longer than the blade.. It's pretty beefy for this type of knife...

I personally think they are nicer than the typical Mora..

The factory sheaths are interesting though, and the belt loops are a little narrow..
They must wear a thinner belt there than we do in north America..
If you wear a standar Wilderness type belt most of the time as I do,, I don't think the factory sheath is going to fit...
It looks as though the sheath is ambi as well, meaning the knife will fit in the sheath both ways...

No problem,, I'll take care of that.. :)

My actual order email doesn't say, the website pictures were the red, but had a note that new pictures were coming, and that the current handles are green.

The pictures on the website didn't look ambi, is this the same sheath yours has?

I think that the extra heavy would be a perfect outdoors knife. It goes to the top of "cheap" knife list in my book, along with the KJ Eriksson 510 and frosts craftsmen.

Good afternoon everyone.
The double knife pack I sent to Eric was the GK/HVK combo
The maroon knife is the Grovkniv which now is green
The light red is the Hantverkskniv whick now is orange.

It is the third from the bottom.

The sheath is originally made to be attached on the knife button on swedish work clothes. There is usually one next to the right chest pocket and one on the right hip.
If you want to use it on a belt you cut off a small guide fin on the inside of the locking flap.
Swedish workers knives are very seldom worn on a belt, they almost always sit on the button and threaded through the fabric loop.

If you look in this catalogue http://www.snickersworkwear.com/autumn_winter0708_se/
you see the chest configuration on page 7 and 16, and on page 22 (the kneeling guy) you can see the button on the right thigh under the vertical yellow line. The fabric loop is to keep the knife from flying around. The same on page 34.
It has been so on swedish workwear all since the Mora knives. That also explains the weird sheaths on most other swedish carpenter knives, the hole in the flap looks like a keyhole with one slit instead of two for a belt.

I hope you like the knives.

Nicklas

nodh, thanks for that info!

I have often thought of sewing a large button on my outdoors bag to attach Mora sheaths with!

Thats pretty sweet! The Craftsmen model is 3mm thick, thicker than my Mora 2000!
If anybody knows a North American distributor please post it here!
:)

I ordered from here too after a lengthy discussion on another knife forum. I was told that Ragnar was aware of the brand and was in contact with the manufacturer but couldn't secure these for sale for undisclosed reasons. Anyway, mine should be waiting for me when I get home so I'll let you know how the shipping is. So far I've not had a good experience, but I won't pass judgment till I actually get the knives.

If anyone is still interested, my Hultafors came in safe and sound from the shop mentioned above.

I got the heavy duty carbon steel and the stainless ones. The HD had a green handle. I like both, they seem more substantial than my Mora and came in just as sharp.
The spine of the GK (heavy duty) had sort of a rough finish - maybe you can make it out in the pic below. It doesn't bother me, just thought I'd mention it.

GREAT!, mine hasn't arrived yet, but I have no idea how long it takes to get to the USA from Denmark, when did yours ship?

I have placed two orders. The first order got to my house in about a week, while the second order took about 10 days.

Also, after getting rid of the secondary bevel and stropping the blade to a more convex edge, my heavy duty Hultafors is performing very well. It is not quite the slicer that the other Hultafors are due to the thickness of the blade, but it is a definite improvement from the factory edge.

I got my Hultafors yesterday. Here are pics. Does everyones have a secondary bevel??????? Mine does. A pretty substantial one.

Here is a pic with it next to an Ericson Mora.

I like it. Just wonder about the secondary bevel.
