Hungarian knife laws: people under 18 buying knives?

I am new to this forum, and this whole knife world. As you might know, I live in Hungary and I'm 17.

I wonder if I am old enough to buy "bigger" pocket knives. I tried to research about knife laws in Hungary, but it only talks about the max blade length etc. nothing about selling knives to people under 18.

Thanks.

Your best bet would be to speak to a local cutlery dealer. A dealer would certainly know what he/she can and cannot sell and whether they are prohibited from selling to individuals who are considered to be minors (under 18).

Never really known it to be an issue, although I only go there on holiday. Many of my younger relatives have always carried folding knives, although I never asked whether they bought them themselves. My grandad gave boys knives from around 8 as presents. I know some people have asked the police, but even they don't really know as the answers are more varied than the questions. All I can suggest is if you see something you like, buy it. They'll soon let you know if it's illegal or think you might do something illegal with it. You can't get in trouble for asking. I don't ever remember seeing any signs about age (although it's a long while long since I payed any attention to age prohibited signage) and I'm always looking at Magyar knives. Things may have changed recently due harmonisation with EU but I don't think it was an issue in the past. Heck it wasn't that long ago when you ordered the Robbers Platter in a restaurant, it came with a penknife stuck in the top for you to take home.
