I have noticed that you are using a lot of 52100, how do you like it’s edge holding and wear resistance. Ball bearing still is good stuff.

Okay, you asked me one of my favorite questions….
To the knife user 52100 is known to be tough, holds an excellent edge and is easily resharpened. Knife makers like the way it moves under the hammer and how it machines and finishes
. Not to start a controversy here but some of us strongly believe that a properly heat treated and sharpened knife of 52100 slices better than some other steels.

So maybe you know, based on your answer, is it safe to assume 52100 has small carbides? Unlike d2 which has larger carbides, so d2 won’t be razor sharp very long, but it is good for cardboard and such because it is more toothy? Thanks for your thoughts and opinions.

I find your enthusiasm for 52100 good to hear as I had already decided to go with it for my next steel order! Even more happy with my choice now.
