Happy New Year to you all! I guess this is the first knife I'll be offering for 2019. It is my standard hunter, with Crucible Cru Forge V steel! For those unfamiliar with this particular alloy, it is basically a 1% carbon steel that has excellent wear resistance due to its vanadium carbide. It was developed by Crucible with the help of Dan Farr and others as a steel that is easy to forge, and relatively easy to heat treat in a forge. But it really shines with a more exacting heat treatment with precise temperature control and soak times. The heat treatment of this blade consisted of normalizing, thermal cycling, pre-quench, hardening/quenching, sub zero, and triple tempers. It has extremely fine graine because of the vanadium and also due to the thermal cycling. It's just a great simple steel. It isn't "super" by today's parlance, but in my book it is superb! The handle is cocobolo wood that has nice figure to it, and fits perfectly in the hand. The grind is, of course, nice and thin for easy slicing. The blade shape and thin grind lends itself to a variety of cutting chores, from game processing to EDC to light kitchen duty. The blade polish is a nice hand rubbed satin finish. "S Davenport" maker's mark on the left side, and "CFV" steel ID on the right side. A good all around knife!

Asking price is ONLY $160*, and includes a custom made kydex sheath that snaps {click} right into place! And free shipping anywhere in the USA!! Paypal preferred (samuraistuart@yahoo.com), but will gladly take a check and ship once cleared. Thanks for looking, and follow me on Instagram: stuartalandavenport

*This is a really good price, if I do say so. After shipping and paypal fees, the package you're paying for is basically $140, and you won't find many knives with such a dialed in heat treatment. Heat treatment is the soul of the knife, as it is said, and I give it great attention and take great pride in it. Good geometry+good heat treament+good steel+comfortable handle=great knife

What are the pins made from? And do I see black liners under the cocobolo?

For anyone considering this: Stuart's thin CFV is awesome and his handles are exceptionally comfortable.

+1 On this. I have a half dozen of Stuart's knives, Pairing, Hunter, EDC all in high performance steels. His wood handles are amazing (have mesquite, walnut and purple heart) and his blades are expertly finished ready for hard work in the kitchen or field. His pairing knives get used more than any other knife I own.
