I have been experimenting with thermally modified maple for my scales. I find that stabilized wood colors all the way into the core and looks similar to bone or antler when it's done so I jigged this one
Stock removal from 52100 high carbon steel
Heat treated to Rc 58-60 with attention to a fine grain structure throughout the blade
Flat grind with a 400 grit belt finish
Stabilized thermally modified curly maple handle
G10 and Micarta spacers
Overall length: 7 1/2 inches
Blade: 3 1/2 inches
Leather scabbard with a belt loop for a right hand carry
