Finally wrapped up this hunter yesterday. Comments and critiques welcomed.

01 steel
Tapered tang
War Wood handle scales w/316 pins as well as 4 hidden pins and glue chambers.

*Updated to show the knife with its new sheath. (OK, Kydex. So what, right? But it's my first one!) :p

wow. really quite a unique take. would love to see more pics. ;)

what is War Wood? i hadn't heard of it. i looked it up and still didn't find anything. I love the look.

Very nice knife. What grit did you sand your Warwood to? I usually go to 1000, but yours looks much better.

I like the profile of the handle. Very sexy.

Lo/Rez,

The handle is only at 400X. It is plenty smooth in the hand. I didn't want it to get too polished and then be slippery when wet. At 400X it has a nice matte look and plenty of grip when wet.

That's really nice! The war wood stuff sounds interesting. I work at and EOD Mobile Unit and I think the history of the stuff may have some interest with the Techs. Ordered a few pieces to give it a try.

Looks really nice Marc! I love how clean it looks and how well it flows. I have made hunters without any ricasso on the edge like yours and they tend to take small pieces of leather every time they are drawn from the sheath. I would try to design the sheath to maybe compensate for that if you haven't already thought of it. Very well done!

You're buying most of my stock, and most of Mark' stock, and you use warwood?

:D Don't worry Ben. Your woods will find a good home on some nicer projects. I used the War Wood because the scales were scrap from another knife that never got built. I had to use them so they didn't go to waste.

Matt, I'll keep that in mind when making the sheath. Thanks.

Thanks everybody for your comments.

I do all of my knives like this at the ricasso. Just curve the last 3/8" of the welt or so down from the edge, and you will be fine. I really like this knife btw. Great job. I agree with JDM on the handle. 👍

No Shane. It does not have a hidden lanyard hole. I tried to drill the holes but the tang was too hard. This was an older blade I had sitting on the shelf. I have a lot of those, maybe a couple dozen. Anyway, I'm making a push to finish those knives so I can move on to new ideas.

Thanks folks.
