This belt axe was originally made for me, by me a while back
There are a few things about it I would like to explain. The blade shape is a bit different tha what your use to seeing Im sure.
I have butchered a lot of critters with axes/hatchets. I always found myself wishing the blade had a little "upsweep" to it for getting between joints and up under folds of skin. So when I forged this I made it that way.I also like having a small hatchet to cut limbs away from my stands and blinds, etc...You know, I like having them fishing too
The head is wrought iron and the cutting bit is a piece of old Black Diamond file. You can still see the file teeth at the wrought/file steel junction after the etch..The handle is hickory, stained and oiled. Its a handy 13 1/2" long.
The sheath is a belt style sheath with two belts loops, both have snaps. The sheath was never stained, just saddle soaped because like I said, I was gonna keep it. It has three heavy copper rivets at the junctions because Im rough on tools sometimes
Well I made two at the time, and I only ever used one. Lisa never carried one hunt'n since Im always there to clear brush out of her stand and do her butchering/skinning for her
Well this one needs a home and would make someone a good little axe. Since its an unusal design and the sheath wasnt really finished up real nice Im gonna let it go for **SPF** plus $10 shipping. We do make and sell these but not for that price. Just so folks know. We take paypal and money orders. Our paypal address is phllpwest@bellsouth.net
Thanks
