Have you ever tried using snares? I work the Sam Houston Forest for the State all the time. I use a lot of snares. Both foot and neck snares. They're very efficient and work extremely well. You don't even have to bait them, just set them up I'm the trails. I have a YouTube channel showing how to make them and set them if you want to check it out. The channel link is in my signature here. Let me know if you ever want any help my friend.

I don't use snares. Too many other animals that the snares would be detrimental to, and I'm not there to monitor a snare or trap continuously.

Yep. I have my own personal war going on with them on our ranch in south Texas. Right now I'm just using el cheapo gen1 NV, but it gets the job done. Thinking about switching over to a thermal scope. They hate it when things go bump in the night...;)

It all depends on where & how they're set. I've never snared a deer, not in 20 years brother. They just have to be put in the proper place and set up correctly. But most people don't do this, resulting in a lot of non target catches...
