Hunting Khuks

The R7 is one of several small HI knives that would work well in dressing game, considering it's patterned after the excellent Shrade Sharpfinger.

I carried an 18" Chitlangi sometimes when in the woods hunting. I would often do a little "forest maintenance" on the way back to the cabin, clearing out small trees and brush growing in shooting lanes.

You cant go wrong with the R-7, it's a time tested design for skining and dressing all the various North American game animals. What about the R-5 ? for skinning and dressing. I know it's not a Kuk, but should do well in the dressing of the animal and I will be using mine for this task this season.
For general all around hunting/lane clearing/trail sloggin/camp chore activities the YCS setup would get my vote as a multi purpose "package".

My thought is that a KHUKURI is unique and intersting, and would make an excellent gift. The world is full of straight 'hunting knives'. A 12" AK or Sirupate would be fine. I really like the way you can slit the chest cavity , or make the belly incision and travel upwards without injuring the organs. The thick spine helps guide the tool and push the guts away. Your hand is that much further away because of the curve of the blade ...though you're going to get dirty any way with any blade. There are people who dress out all big game with a pocket knife. There are others who like a larger fixed blade. I've tried both. The khukuri is a good choice.
I love my Sarge Knife too. It usually is sitting here and does all the tasks around the house. I promised the former owner I'd use it. I wouldn't hestitate to gut a deer or an intruder in the compound with it.
