Is the planned ban on Hunting Knives only for Quebec or for all of Canada?

Talk about legislators shooting themselves in the foot. Do they not have a clue as to how many hunters and fisherman live in their areas?

Do the Canadians know about this? I got it from the AKTI

That's insane. All of the hunters I know go to Canada just to hunt. Why in the world would somebody care if somebody carrying a rifle or shotgun has a knife? That's the most ironic and stupid concern I've ever heard.

I think politicians everywhere are clueless morons when it comes to practical knowledge of what I call the real world! :thumbdn:

What in the world are those people thinking?! Guns and knives? place a ban on kitchen knives and see how many people flip. Afterall more people are stabbed with KITCHEN knives than any other edged "weapons".

The legal assault on all knives in the UK is probably the driving force behind what's going on in Canada. It's jUst one of the many reasons I object to Bush's commitment to an American Union. With AU courts and laws, our own courts in the US may uphold AU gun and knife bans.

One major problems with governmental consolidation is that city people make laws affecting country people. That's why our founding fathers produced a brilliant form of government that our courts are now shredding. As long as we have the Second Amendment, though, we have a God-given right to keep and bear arms--even pointy ones!

wait are you serious?

how do they define hunting knife as opposed to other knives?

I've never understood why the politicians of Canada and Australia operate with their noses firmly up England's ass.

Mr. Russell, i am a Canadian, a knife enthusiast and hunter, and always carry a belt knife (folder or FB), including on trips to town. i also listen to the news and politics on the radio most days. i have heard absolutely nothing on the topic of knives at all. i spoke with my local RCMP officer who said that only assisted opening knives are banned;otherwise you can carry any size knife you want(exposed or concealed) except not into a bar or court house. he knew of no proposed changes.
can you provide a link to your reference ? thanks, roland

Hey A.G.,
There will be no knife ban- Fugedaboudit! When are you gonna come out with a titanium "Sting?" Hope you're well. Nice to see you on here.

Many states in the US already have such laws. :(

Not to worry. With our current overpopulation and rampant development, pretty soon there won't be any "country people."

Because there is still an umbilical cord from England to those colonies. They never had the inclination to fight a major war to sever it.

Last time I checked, assisted opening knives are legal. Autos, Balis and a few others are illegal but not assisted.

You sure that RCMP officer wasn't eyeballing your assisted opener to add to his collection ;)

The guy who's lobbying gouverment wants to ban all fixed balde knives in quebec.

I'm moving if it passes.

whether or not anything comes of this lobby, it is to ban "Rambo style knives".
well, those are useless for hunting anyway. in fact forget the word "hunting". in my opinion they are useless for any knife chore i have ever come across. if i want to hack, i get an axe/hachet, or folding saw.
i think knife blocks that sit on a kitchen counter and readily offer you any one of many fixed blade knives to grab, should be banned, or at least be locked in a safe ! think i'll start lobbying too ! roland

Funny both those comments yours and Dr Mudd.
Why is it that many in Australia think we brown nose the Yanks all the time?
I recall there have been several wars in the last 50 years that Australia has served with the Americans where there were no Brits present, what does that make us now?
You are fantastic Allies and "mates" to have.
How do you treat your enemies? oh thats right I remember now.

What is a "Rambo" style knife? Define it. Length, saw teeth, handle, black blade and so on. Seems like we have the same problem on what is defined as an assault rifle. I see a ban on all knives over a certain length. Does this include chef's knives? It seems like another reactionary liberal solution to an imaginary problem. Makes me thankful to live in the Good Ole USA.

Come on now, every family has an ass'ole or two, mine, yours, everybody's. Don't let one of mine get you upset. This speach is out of frustration, it does not really mean to insult.
