Hunting knife for person who doesn't care for his knives

By the way, Swamp Rat has a No questions asked warranty. Can't beat that, Just go visit every so often and if its beat down, send it in for repair and it will be good as new again.

Your father sounds like mine..

I would suggest you buy him a 4" Mora knife from Sweeden, or wait, buy him 5 and that wouldn't even bust $30...

Cheers.

I second ( or third ) the group who says go for a nice Buck. If he is not a knife person it won't matter.

Buy him a Schrade Sharpfinger. When it gets dull, beat up and dirty, buy him another one. Wet hair, lather, rinse, repeat. ;)

My $39 Buck Vanguard from Wal-Mart has served me very well every hunting season for the last 7 years. Very little more than rinsing with fresh water and wiping dry after field dressing game. Doesn't get much better than that.

Depends upon the amount of time one waits in between the last rinse and the first step of the repeated process.

And speaking of lathering, rinsing and repeating: That's all I ever do with my Sharpfinger. Yeah, it is stained up (patinated, I like to call it), but the looks don't matter none to how she cuts. And if you want a personal touch, have the scales replaced with something that he would like. Mine hasn't rusted one bit yet, even with the abuse it takes.

I would look at Bucks hunting knives they have a very nice selection and some very nice looking knives from 30-75 bucks you cant beat them for what you get and the price. The Buck Zipper might would be perfect for him.

I considered the above advice heavily and ended up placing an order for the Spyderco Bill Moran FBO1, the one with the upswept blade. I picked this over the drop point because it has more belly and I think my dad will make more use of it. He won't be doing any stabbing, prying, or chopping, so this should suit him well. I'll let you guys know when I get the knife how I personally like it.

Thanks again for the suggestions.

Mark
