Good evening folks:
My wife wants to buy me a new hunting knife and the budget is $200 to $300. This is not a "need" to have knife but more a "nice" to have. The knife requirements are as follows:
1) fixed blade;
2) NO monster 12, 13 or 14" blades;
3) the knife may also be used for bush-craft;
4) no black coated blades. I like satin finish;
5) no tantos

I love the look of Cold Steel's San Mai knives, but they are a bit too large. Fallkniven appears to be at the top of my list so far.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

swamp rat RMDxLE sounds perfect or a stripped RMD.

I hunt and process game a lot-
-Fallkniven is a winner... And my top pick
Busse -kin 154 steel a great performer-- muk or HCLE
Bark river- fox river
Chris Reeve- Nyala

I'm not to big on high end knives, my honest opinion is, get a buck 119 for $40, and spend the rest of the cash on hunting gear and whatnot.

if you like the fallknivens i say go with them.

I was gonna recommend a f1 or h1 to you anyways. H1 is a great skinner, while the f1 is a good bush craft/survival knife

Thanks for the ideas, lots of good knives.

I hear you on the Buck 119.............have it and love it.

With those specs - Fallkniven would be a great choice. We demand pics - especially bloody, post-use ones! :D

I have had a bunch of Hunting Knives in the past. One of my favorites that I misplaced was a Benchmade in there 180 model. Blade worked well for gutting and skinning and was my "do all" knives. I liked the D2 steel as it held up well. My new favorite is an older "trapper" model from a local guy. Its softer steel, but touches up quick and I can get through deer well. Sorry, don't have a picture. I have found about a 3.5-3.75" blade does about everything you need. I wouldn't buy one without handling it first, handle a bunch and pick the one that fits best for you in typical gutting and skinning hand positions. Good luck with the search.

If you don,t mind a little wait, check out SHADOW KNIVES, THE Man is the real deal tell him what you want or one of his designs--EDDIE WHITE.
