That's some beautiful country! Yes the rut is in full swing now (at least where I am) and the November rains have set in, great blacktail hunting weather!! Here's another one I got yesterday, my biggest blacktail to date

Opening day buck, not much for antlers but got a lot of meat from it. Bullet hit an artery and severed the spinal cord so the deer didn't even take a step before it was dead.

nice shooting! mine above was the same senario. Hit the ground dead. Meat is all that matters, that looks like a nice healthy heavy deer.

Didn't get a knife in the picture but cleaned her with an old Buck 105. I can already smell the sausage

I killed the buck a couple weeks ago and the doe in September. One more and I will be happy!
I use a Chris Reeve Nyala and a hatchet for pretty well everything on a hunting trip.
